R-M Boustany is Professor of Pediatrics/Adolescent Medicine and Biochemistry/Molecular Genetics at AUBMC and Pediatrics at Duke University. She directs the Neurogenetics Program/AUBMC Special Kids Clinic and is Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology at AUBMC. She directed the Abuhaidar Neuroscience Institute for 3.5 years establishing the first inpatient psychiatry, child psychology/child psychiatry/psychometric units/Neuro-ICU in Lebanon. She completed a fellowship in Neurogenetic disorders and Lysosomal storage diseases at the Shriver Center for Mental Retardation and co-directed the Lysosomal Storage Diseases laboratory there from 1984-1988. She continues to work on novel therapies for the NCLs or Batten disease and autism in Lebanon. She was elected to Society for Pediatric Research and is a fellow of the American Neurological Association and is a recipient of a Neuroscience/Merck Award, the 2006 Raymond D. Adams Lectureship, a Dubai Harvard Medical Foundation Research grant, and the Sidney Carter Award in Pediatric Neurology. She is a reviewer for NIH /Alzheimer Disease Association/FDA and the Boroughs Welcome trust, and Associate Editor of Annals of Neurology. She is on the Boards of the Batten Disease and Research Organization (BDSRA) and OpenMinds.
